The Oyo State Police Command Ibadan, Southwest, Nigeria have concluded arrangements to hold a road safety seminar in the ancient city.
This was disclosed by the state Commissioner of Police Mr. Leye Oyebade recently when he paid a courtesy visit to the University Teaching Hospital, Ibadan to sympathize with victims of Lagos-Ibadan expressway road accident that claimed many lives.
About 36 others were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.
While addressing journalists and staff of the health facility, Oyebade noted that the seminar has become imperative owning to the high rate of accident on the road, he added that there should be a forum for all the stakeholders to address the issue of over speeding by drivers on highways.
The police boss also used the opportunity to pray for some of the accident victims who are still receiving treatments in the hospital.
Responding to the kind gesture of Oyebade, the acting Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Dada Adegbola Hannah thanked the CP for his visit and promised that the management of the hospital will participate in the seminar, adding that, the hospital was overwhelmed with the number of patients brought in on the day of the accident.
Agencies and personnel to be invited for the seminar according to the police boss are members of the transport unions, Federal Road Safety Commission, Vehicle Inspection Officers VIO, all paramilitary agencies and medical practitioners as well as members of the public.tweet
