Osinbajo represents Nigeria at Davos World Economic Forum

Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, will be attending this year’s World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland to represent Nigeria at the annual global event.

The vice president will be participating in a number of panels highlighting the prospects of the Nigerian economy under President Muhammadu Buhari and will also be meeting other leaders.

This is the first participation of the administration at the Davos forum.

Prof. Osinbajo left Abuja earlier today and will be returning on Saturday.

During a session in which he participated, Osinbajo highlighted the problems facing Africa but noted that: “Africa is not doomed, our challenges have forced us to look inward,” he said.

In the case of Nigeria, he said: “Good governance and an emphasis on building transparent systems will rid Nigeria of corruption.

On Islamist sect, Boko Haram, he said: “The real existential threat of Boko Haram no longer exists but there are pockets of suicide bombing.”

He added that: “Low oil prices have freed up $15 billion in subsidy costs for Nigeria, noting that, “this is a plus for Nigeria”.
