Ooni’s Demise: Family Moves Out Property From Palace

Information has it that, the family of the late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade has started moving their belongings out of the ile Oodua, following the widely reported death of the monarch in a London hospital.

No fewer than seven cars of the wealthy monarch were sighted yesterday at about 2pm being moved out of Ile-Ife enroute the Ibadan/ Ife highway.

Meanwhile, journalists gathered that the remains of the monarch may have arrived in Ile’gbo, the place where the monarch was installed.

Ile ‘gbo, according to an informed palace source, is located within Ile Oodua, the late Ooni’s palace.

An Ife traditional title holder who did not wish to be named said: “The body arrived the palace and was received by members of Isoro cult early this week.

“His journey to the throne started from that place called Ile’gbo. That is where he was installed Ooni and that is the place [where] anyone that will succeed him will also be installed.

“The body is being preserved through traditional means.

“All the rites will be done while the body is kept there. That does not mean that a formal announcement of his death will follow in the next two weeks. It may take months, depending on how fast the Isoro members are able to conclude the necessary rites. The body is there as I speak to you but nobody except members of the cult can see it.

“Even his family members can no longer see his corpse again,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the Ife Traditional Council still maintained that Oba Okunade Sijuwade is alive, hale and hearty.
