The University of Jos in Plateau State has confirmed that two of its students died in Tuesday’s bomb blast, which claimed over 80 lives, and declared that five were missing. Deputy Registrar, Information and Publication, Mr. Steve Otowo, told Daily Sun that the university was aware that Michael Ogbole and Francisca Nwafor, both 500-level Medical Laboratory Science Technology students, died in the explosion but had not been able to confirm the whereabouts of five other students.
He appealed to parents and guardians, who have wards in the university, to get in touch with the institution.
He stated that the students’ union leader told him that they were still searching for five students.
Otowo said: “Though the union leader got in touch with me to say five students were missing, we can only appeal to the parents to try to call their wards on phone and confirm their whereabouts. They could have travelled or gone somewhere unknown to us. We need to be sure of what has happened to them before we draw conclusions.”
He revealed that arrangements had been concluded to move the remains of the late Michael Ogbole to Benue State for burial today.
