Going by the trickles of results announced at various polling units across the state, the chance of Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura of the All Progressives Congress (APC) returning is alive.
Almakura, who was hitherto thought to have only Lafia as his stronghold is proving pundits wrong by pulling surprises in all the local government areas in the state.
Findings by LEADERSHIP indicate that the APC is gaining upper hand as results are being announced at various polling stations thereby upseting the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Karu local government area which many thought was their exclusive preserve.
Results announced in other polling units across the the state also indicate that the former Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, is putting up a good performance with the few announced results showing him leading in some units or following Almakura closely.
When Maku defected from the PDP to All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) a few weeks to the elections, not many gave him any chance at putting up a good show, let alone winning, but as events are unfolding now Maku is contending for the grand prize.
