Rashford, Memphis inspire Man Utd to 5-1 win

Marcus Rashford scored twice as Manchester United came from behind to beat FC Midtjylland 5-1 in their Europa League second-leg clash at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils progressed 6-3 on aggregate.

Louis van Gaal’s side looked like they were heading for the exit when Pione Sisto scored in the 27th minute to extend the lead of FC Midtjylland who won the first leg by 2-1 in Denmark.

The Danish club however handed United a life line when Nikolay Bodurov put the ball into his own goal.

United’s topsy-turvy season then continued when Spanish midfielder, Juan Mata, missed a penalty kick but teenage striker, Marcus Rashford sparked Old Trafford back to life with two goals in the 63rd and 75th minute.

The 18-year old’s performance will give under pressure van Gaal some respite from the fans who have been calling for his sack.

The Dutch manager then breathed a sigh of relief when United was handed another penalty. This time Mata was relieved of his duties and Ander Herrera ensured there was no mistake from the spot.

Memphis Depay who has come under some serious criticism this season put the result beyond doubt when he struck in the 90th minute.
