JIM IYKE FLOATS NEW POLITICAL PARTY ‘YOUNG DEMOCRATIC PARTY’

Jim Iyke, award-winning Nollywood actor, has also come out to state his interest in politics ahead of the 2015 general elections as he joins, the newly-registered Young Democratic Party. The Nollywood star, who is well known for his bad boy roles, is the director-general of the new party but does not plan to contest like his fellow Nollywood stars, saying the idea of the party was to empower and promote Nigerian youths within and outside the shores of the country. Reiterating his point and the vision of the party, Iyke said, “It is time power and our policies shifted hands to fresher minds, to stronger fortes, to people that are ready to move with the momentum of time, tide and changes.” Stating the need for the youths to take more interest in politics that will effect the country’s growth, he called for the sack of the current leaders. “The same circle of people that governed us 20 years ago are the same people who are still ruling us, what are they still doing there?” he queried. “So many of them are in their 80s, grandfathers by all rights! Are they not tired? Suffering and smiling has become our motto, our slogan.” Although, he is encouraging youths to make political moves for Nigeria’s growth, he does not want it to be misunderstood to mean they are revolting. “We are not saying that this is a revolution or we are here to manipulate anybody, no. It is an open and closed book,” he said. “This change may not happen in this era but it is a right step in the right direction at least there is a voice which hitherto was non-existent. There is a platform where you can air your grievances. It is a truthful and open platform.” So far, Bob Manuel Udokwu, Kate Henshaw, Desmond Eliott, Kenneth Okonkwo,Funke Adeyisan, Yemi Solade, Jibola Dabo, Julius Agwu, Clement Ohaneze, 9ice, Kenny Saint Brown, Tony Tetuila, are the Nigerian entertainers in Nollywood and the music industry who have shown interest in 2015 politics.
