COVID-19: Nigeria Records 779 New Cases, Total Now 24,077

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control in a tweet via its official twitter handle on Saturday announced 779 new cases of the novel coronavirus, bring the total number of cases to 24,077.

Saturday’s new cases marked the highest daily increase since the health agency started reporting COVID-19 infections in February.

Nigeria is currently undergoing a second phase of a re-opening after weeks of lockdown to slow the spread of the virus.

However, the number of cases has continued to increase as the country’s testing capacity increases.
